Martin Disler

Martin Disler was born 1949 in Seewen, Switzerland and died 1996 in Genf.

Technical diversity and his keenness to experiment characterize Disler's elaborate oeuvre. Beginning with drawings, Martin Disler soon began exploring the possibilities of painting, sculpturing, print-making, and even writing - often working in all these media simultaneously.

The self-taught artist had begun to capture the physical and mental tension of the modern individual on canvas years before the so-called "Wild Ones" became a talking point. His expressive paintings and drawings, often in sombre colors, possess a swirling energy indicative of his often impetuous approach. This artist, whose work comes across as being bathed in both a thirst for life and an anticipation of death was only fourty-seven years old when he died.
