Georges Adéagbo

Georges Adeagbo was born 1942 in Cotonou (Benin, Africa) where he still lives and works. Adeagbo has been claimed as one of West Afrika's foremost artists ever since his contribution to the documenta in 2002. Following his 'discovery' in 1993 by a French art agent, this autodidact's installations have been exhibited in Europe, the two Americas, and Japan. For more than thirty years he has been collecting books, fabrics, pictures and all manner of lucky finds, piecing them together to form large installations.

In 2009 Adeagbo was invited to contribute to "Making Worlds", 53rd Venice Biennial, curated by Daniel Birnbaum.
